In person meetings will be held on the third floor of the Western Maryland Railway Station\, in a Conference Room (Room 302 or 304). SUMMARY:Potomac Concert Band 4th of July Performance
DESCRIPTION:Canal Place is happy to have returning to our stage the Potomac Concert Band for the 4th of July!  \nThis is a FREE event so be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets along with your friends and family\, to enjoy a selection of patriotic songs for the evening. The music will begin by 8pm and will conclude just prior to the start of the fireworks at 9:30pm. \nOnce the music ends just turn your seats around to view the fireworks from one of the best places in Cumberland. We hope you’ll enjoy this prime location for viewing them. \nThe band will be following the City of Cumberland’s lead on cancellations so be sure to listen to local media outlets for updates. Should the evening be ruined by the weather\, we hope to be able to provide you with a rain date (so keep watch on this site). \n“The band consists of members whose ages range from the mid teens to the eighties with several husband-wife couples\, parent child and sibling combination. Many occupation are represented ranging from students in high school and college to folks with their doctorates in various fields. The band includes a number of present and retired band directors and music teachers. \n“The Potomac Concert Band is well known in the Cumberland-Allegany County area for its summer concerts which include traditional marches\, Broadway show tunes\, TV theme music\, patriotic selections\, and popular songs as well as instrumental features. The band begins rehearsal in late April or early May for its series of approximately a dozen summer performances. The band has been affectionately called our area’s version of the Boston Pops because of the variety of light\, entertaining fare. “

DESCRIPTION:Bikes for the World is back and waiting for you to donate your old bikes!\n\nHave an old\, repairable bike in your basement or garage taking up storage space?  Want to put it to good use and make a difference?  Donate it to the Cumberland Area Bikes for the World collection on Saturday\, May 17th.  Bikes will be collected at Canal Place from 10 am to 12 noon.   They will also accept portable sewing machines (no table models please)!  It is suggested that a voluntary donation ($10+) be given to help offset the cost of shipping bikes to both domestic and international locations.\n\nDon’t have a bike but want to help? Monetary donations can be accepted the day of the drive as well. DESCRIPTION:The Levitt AMP series is back and ready for another exciting year! \nThis year’s series kicks off on Thursday\, June 6\, and will again feature ten consecutive weeks of performers from across the U.S. and Canada featuring everything from bluegrass\, to an American Idol finalist\, neo-folk and a cat-based quartet? \nThere are a few changes in 2024 which you will want to note – start times have been pushed back to 7:00PM this year and beer and wine sales will be available onsite for your convenience with all proceeds supporting the series. \nIn addition\, we will feature a Kid Zone and sponsorship opportunities are available! DESCRIPTION:Story Time – Round up the kids and bring them to Canal Place for Story Time! Meet the librarians for a fun time reading down at the Basin Plaza (by the Shops at Canal Place). If the crowd is large you may find them at the Festival Grounds right next door.  Be sure to be there for the handing out of crafts and books to keep the little ones busy during the summer. Best of all-it’s Free! \n
