DESCRIPTION:Jane’s Place Inc\, Child Advocacy Center Fundraising and Awareness Event \nA Mile In Their Shoes: Color Run – Fun Run/ Walk   April 2nd \nLace up your sneakers and get on down to Canal Place to help raise awareness and money for Child Advocacy!  It’s family friendly and going to be lots of fun! \nThe registration for the 5K begins at 8am with the line up and start at 9am. \nThe Fun Run registration begins at 9:30 with the line up and start at 10:30am. \nBe sure to be on hand for the 9:45am Awareness presentation followed by the 5K result. \nThe Celebration of Hope (aka the Color War) will be at the Fun Run finish line. \nAll run and walks will be beginning and  ending at the Canal Place Plaza at the Western Maryland Railway Station (by the Mule statue). \nFor more information click here or to register go to www.jpicac.org \nCome have some fun and do some good at the same time! \nEnjoy your day but please be respectful of those that are still practicing social distancing or wearing a mask.  The public bathrooms by the shops will be open for use and to allow for frequent hand washing as well.

DESCRIPTION:A Day of Civility from Choose Civility Allegany \nJoin us to enjoy an interactive and fun way to celebrate each other and our community. While various events will be happening all month long\, at Canal Place we will be joining the Allegany Library\, Allegany Arts Council\, the Cumberland Downtown Development Commission and others to celebrate civility on April 16. We will be creating chalk drawings down by the shops (follow the path from the pedestrian mall downtown) on the large concrete seating area by the basin. \nChalk It Up to Civility is part of the Choose Civility: Allegany County\, a grassroots initiative to improve and enrich Allegany County by promoting civil conversation and kindness. The event will encourage children and adults to participate in “chalking” in designated areas of  downtown with inspiring messages\, words of encouragement and kindness. \nThe goal is to provide opportunity for collaborative conversation in spite of difference\, develop consensus in the place of division\, and create connectedness in our community.
