SUMMARY:Second Annual Juneteenth Celebration
DESCRIPTION:NAACP Allegany County Branch Unit #7007 presents the Second Annual Juneteenth Festival. June 18\, Noon-6pm\, June 19\, 11am-5pm. \nThe theme of this years event is “Our History\, Our Story\, Our Legacy”. \nOn Saturday\, June 18 (Noon -6pm) following a parade down Washington Street\, the festivities begin at Canal Place with live music from local bands (The Blaze Band\, and Mickey Ross) as well as 4 Life Project Go Go Band (from the DMV) and Space (from New Jersey). Be sure to come for the FREE Community pig roast and cook out. \nOn Sunday\, June 19 (11am-5pm) there will be a Gospel Explosion and the festival will include African Storytelling\, with performances from Gospel artists Body of Evidence Go Go Gospel\, Tyrone Snowden and Dave Newell. \nOn BOTH DAYS there will also be a Health Fair\, Kid Zone and vendors from all over Maryland. \nAll events Saturday and Sunday are FREE for the Community! DESCRIPTION:Rock the Mountains– It’s back and twice as big! \nFriday\, June 24th and Saturday\, June 25\, 2022 \nWith 2 days and 2 stages and 25 bands you are going to have a great weekend of music! Gates open Friday at 3pm and Saturday at 11am. This event benefits our local Salvation Army Red Shield Club\, where funds raised will be used to purchase musical instruments for the kids\, so be sure to join in the fun-it’s for a great cause! \nCheck out this year’s flyer here to see all the bands that will be performing each day. \nTickets can be bought online at www.rockthemountains.org or at the gate for $25 per day. \nThis event is an all ages event but you must be 21+ with ID in order to purchase alcohol. \n  \nEnjoy your day of music but please be respectful of those that are still practicing social distancing or wearing a mask.  The public bathrooms by the Shops at Canal Place will be open for use and to allow for frequent hand washing as well. \n

SUMMARY:Story Time at Canal Place
DESCRIPTION:Story Time – Round up the kids and bring them to Canal Place for Story Time! Meet the librarians for a fun time reading down at the Basin Plaza (by the Shops at Canal Place). If the crowd is large you may find them at the Festival Grounds right next door.  Be sure to be there for the handing out of crafts and books to keep the little ones busy during the summer. Best of all-it’s Free! \nEnjoy your day of reading but please be respectful of those that are still practicing social distancing or wearing a mask.  The public bathrooms by the Shops at Canal Place will be open for use and to allow for frequent hand washing as well.
