Founded in 1877 the Frostburg Arion Band is one of the United States’ longest continuously functioning concert bands. The band takes its name from the Ancient Greek musician Arion – the “jolly mon” of Corinth who also is credited with inventing the lyre. The band is composed mainly of amateur instrumentalists of all ages and skill levels, from the city of Frostburg and the surrounding areas. These volunteer community members carry on the long tradition of musical entertainment performing a mixture of marches, medleys and old favorites at various locations throughout the year.
For this performance they hope to play a mix of their favorite medleys from Walt Disney, Andrew Lloyd Webber and My Fair Lady, folk music from Clare Grundman and Gustav Holst, as well as some favorites from the Big Band Era along with some patriotic numbers.
In case of stormy weather this event will be cancelled.
